The dispute between EA and FIFA is over, with the new name EA Sports FC not arriving in the next game. Instead, we now have confirmation that EA Sports FC will be the future of the franchise from the summer of 2023.

FIFA 23 will still release this year, basically, but from next year onwards EA's footy franchise will be rebranded as EA Sports FC. EA confirmed the news with a press release and a blog post.

This situation has been developing for a while now. On 7th October 2021, fans around the world found out that Electronic Arts had filed trademarks in the UK and Europe for a "computer game software" titled EA Sports FC.
